A loose Zbrush for Ipad concept sculpt I decided to take a bit further and render in Marmoset 5. I worked on an Aliens game previously (realistic) and always wanted to try a more stylized approach. The other goal here was to make a model for 3d print. I'm currently working on that and will definitely make a post with the results when I have successfully printed it and painted it.
This is my own concept, but you can see I took heavy influence from various sources especially "Derek Laufman" with the pose and general vibe here. Hopefully you can still see my style in this and where I pushed things. References are included at the bottom of this post. You might recognize the board there as well. I use Viz Ref on my ipad as a reference viewer.
While this model is mostly just polypaint fills and render, I did want a bit of a roughness map in there, so I used the new Layer Material system in Marmoset 5 for this. I've also included an image explaining exactly what I did here incase it helps. I got the original idea from a post by "Slipgate Central". It works great and I definetly recommend trying it. Essentially it allows you to make texture maps with polypaint so you don't need UV's or Lowpoly for rendering.
As always, hope you like it and feel free to ask if you have any questions!
